batman begins movie review

After the mess that came before this movie (Batman Forever, Batman and Robin) I was thinking that maybe it would have been better if the Dark Knight laid low and stuck to the shadows and hopefully never to see him again, but thankfully Batman was given back his dignity with a reboot by Christopher Nolan.

The story follows young Bruce Wayne who's wealthy parents were killed right in front of his eyes in the infamous Gotham City. As Bruce grows up (now played by Christian Bale) he travels the world to take on criminals one at a time, while in a prison in Shanghai he is recruited by a man called Ducard who works for a group of vigilantes called the league of shadows. Bruce trains with the league for a while where he learns vital skills that will help him along the way of becoming Batman.

However this new found friendship isn't to last when Ducard and his Boss Ras Al Gul, ask Bruce to take the life of a local thief, when Bruce disagrees and doesn't kill the man a battle brakes out between Bruce Wayne and the League of shadows.

After this fight Bruce heads back to Gotham City where he becomes the caped crusader, with a little help from his butler and a Wayne Enterprises brilliant Technician (Morgan Freeman) that everyone has forgotten about.

The acting in this film is amazing and I couldn't think of any one else more suited to play a dark character like The Batman, Christian Bale is head and shoulders above his fellow bats (Keaton, Kilmer and Clooney) and is equally as impressive as Bruce Wayne. Alfred is also perfectly cast with Michael Caine as you can really feel the relationship between Bruce and Alfred, Cilian Murphy also gives an excellent performance as Dr Crane and a scary performance as The Scarecrow.

This is by far the best Batman film to date and probably the best superhero movie I have seen, this film isn't perfect and the only thing that is bad about this movie is the 'fighting scenes' yes this is batman so the fights would be close combat and over quickly but its very hard to see what's going on with Batman's Ninja fighting style and the shakey camera style doesn't help. Having said that I can pick anything else wrong with this movie and I can't wait for the sequel, there for Batman Begins Gets 5/5 Stars.
